The Principal Software Engineer – India Liaison role is the primary technical liaison to the TDS software development team in Bangalore India.  This role is responsible for detailed technical support, direction, and review of the India team’s output to ensure that the India team successfully meets their quality and timeliness goals. 

This role also includes medical device software development contributions for product development, software architecture, and research. This includes applications, systems, framework, services, UI/UX and other development facets of the software products and its related technologies.  These activities relate to software solutions on their own as well as being part of whole product solution; i.e., integrating with, complementing and extending TDS's product solutions.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides technical liaison to the TDS offshore team in Bangloare India, which includes:
    • Task and requirements definition.
    • Software design assistance and feedback.
    • Review and approval for code commits.
    • Assisting offshore developers in following the TDS quality system.
    • Assisting with scrum/agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily standup, etc.).
    • Continuous improvement of the offshore team software delivery performance.
  • Performs Principal Software Engineering tasks, which includes:
    • Write well-designed and testable code.
    • Troubleshoot and modify existing software to improve performance.
    • Integrate new hardware into software systems.
    • Execute the full application development life-cycle.
    • Lead product planning by determining feasibility, requirements, and by proposing solutions.
    • Create and maintain software documentation including descriptions, flowcharts, diagrams, and source code comments.
    • Specify system architecture including visualization pipeline, threading, parallel (GPU) computing, device management, datalogging, event and GUI systems.
    • Improve operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.
    • Mentor less experienced software developers with best practices.
    • Propose solutions that meet cost, quality and schedule requirements.
    • Perform basic research in support of strategic roadmap.

Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related HW/SW/System/Optical experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 8 years experience; or equivalent experience.



Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.


Additional Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or equivalent. 

The following software knowledge is also required:

  • Experience in Object Oriented design and programming.
  • Experience with programming in C++, including modern language extensions.
  • Experience with multi-threaded system design.
  • Experience with using various design, implementation, and testing tools.
  • Experience with version control systems (eg. Git, SVN).
  • Experience with standard programming concepts, best-practices, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Scrum or other Agile development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming is preferred.
